At Her Older Sister’s Wedding, The Younger Sister, Long Treated Like The Family’s Disappointment And Constantly Pushed Aside, Suddenly Arrived Carrying An Extravagant Gift…

**Part 2**

The ceremony had been flawless. Vows exchanged. Tears wiped. Now the reception hummed with laughter, clinking glasses, and the soft jazz band. Lila sat at the family table, quiet, watching everything.

Richard kept bragging about Sophia’s new job, her perfect fiancé Alex, the honeymoon in Italy. Elaine kept touching her pearls like they might protect her. Sophia played the gracious bride, thanking guests, posing for photos, throwing little glances at Lila that said, *Don’t ruin this for me.*

Lila just sipped her champagne and waited.

After the cake cutting, she stood up slowly. “Hey, everyone,” she said, voice carrying across the room. “Before the first dance, I think Sophia should open my gift. Right now. It’s important.”

Sophia laughed, but it sounded forced. “Lila, presents can wait. We’re in the middle of—”

“No,” Lila cut in gently. “It can’t.”

Richard waved a hand, grinning. “Come on, honey. Open it. Let’s see what your little sister brought. Make it a show!”

Guests murmured with excitement. A few clapped. Sophia shot Lila a warning look, but walked over anyway, veil trailing behind her like a cloud. She tore the gold paper with perfectly manicured nails. The box lid came off.

Inside sat one plain manila folder. Nothing shiny. No jewelry. No money. Just paper.

Sophia frowned. “Lila… what is this?”

Lila didn’t move. “Open it. You’ll see.”

Sophia pulled out the top sheet. Her eyes moved down the page. Paternity Test Results. Probability of paternity: 0%. Sophia Marie Thompson. Alleged father: Richard Alan Thompson.

The ballroom went silent.

Sophia’s face drained of color. The paper shook in her hands.

Richard stepped closer. “What’s going on?”

Lila stayed perfectly still, heart racing.

Sophia looked up, voice barely a whisper. “Dad… this says you’re not my father.”

The folder slipped from her fingers and hit the floor.

And in that single heartbeat, everything was about to explode.
